I was about to buy the plane tickets from NYC to JD for our next cycle when I thought 'Um, why not just wait till Sunday?' And then I thought, 'Why bother?'
But, more importantly, do you think it's ok for JD to mail my fem.ara to Europe? I know its a bit illegal and all, but the drug really doesn't have the best side-effects and I don't think there's a hot black market for it. My real fear is that they will put it in some non-temp controlled airplane and it'll lose all its magical powers from the cold. Is that nonsense? Because I have clearly started figuring out alternative paths to get my little bottle of magical pills to Europe, all of which involve asking people I tangentially know to carry drugs for me across international lines ... and I will presumably have to explain what they are when they hand them over.

I would be concerned about [the lack of] temperature control while the medication is in transit. Having someone bring it to you is an option but if the carrier is asked to show a prescription at customs, there could be a problem. That being said, I've filled the pages in more than one passport and the only country that has ever stopped me at customs is Israel and that's probably because I would return from trips to the US with many pieces of extra luggage.
Many medications are manufactured in Europe by the same company but under a different brand name. Is it possible to go to a doctor in the city where you are? My IVF doctor knows REs all over Europe and I can ask him if you need a recommendation.
Good luck!
I second Rachel's recommendation.
Thanks for your comment on the co-sleeping thing we will be trying out in the short-term. I never even thought of that -- that the fact that she is in a foster family very well means she is already co-sleeping! It's not my first choice, just something designed to comfort her during what will be a sudden and difficult transition.
BTW, I can not imagine having to deal with all of that smoke -- I have long hair, too, so I feel your pain.
I also commented below on the whole Catholic vs. IVF thing -- hope it sheds some light.
Your journey is amazing!!!!!!!
Talk about funny moments -- I actually had to excuse myself from mass the night before Easter, rush to the restroom, and give myself a Follistim shot -- IN A CATHOLIC CHURCH! Of course, the drugs aren't against any church teachings, it's the procedure (you will see in my comment below). Still, the irony of the moment was not lost on me as I was shooting up in church, LOL!
