It's Saturday night and I am home alone on the couch.
I finally saw Se.x and the Ci.ty tonight. I know, I'm a bit behind. And just going to watch the movie made me feel old. I was still living in a sorority and watching the shows when they came out on Sunday night a few years ago ...
[Disclaimer: no major plot disclosure here]. Anyway, there has been enough note of the improbability/offensive of the Charlotte plot line. What I'm a bit shocked about is that no one else has complained about the 'child as handbag' phenomena. This was supposed to be a movie made for adult women. And yet, here they are taking off on a week-long trip on 12 hours notice without so much as a second thought about who would be watching their children. Yes, there is one prominent nanny in the movie but she has no lines - unlike in the show when she actually had a personality. In the original montage there is a single shot of Charlotte and Harry engaged in a child-friendly activity. Otherwise, the children are cute props in a few scenes and the source of new innuendos in two others. That's it. They don't interfere with work, relationships, travel, Sunday brunch ... it's a bit disappointing given that at least two of the actors actually are parents. And especially given that all of the women obsessed about how much children might affect their future - and yet, in the end, the message seems to be that children are just like handbags: cute and sweet and you can just stick them in the closet when you need a change. Or do I miss something?
ps - If you missed the last post, please read it and give me advice. I'm still feeling peeved about my family, but about to take things into my own hands.

You're having a girl!
Which name do you like better: Charlotte, Carrie, Sarah Jessica, Samantha, or Miranda?
Very happy for you...and no, I don't think you're being a baby.
