I just got off the phone with a highly-recommended housing agency in my little corner of Europe. I have never used an agency before, but I thought with a baby in tow, I probably do need to just deal and pay the commission rather than run all over the city trying to find housing. And I was so looking forward to the luxury of telling an agency my wishes (um ... cheap, in the right city, no more than 3rd floor walk-up, some type of kitchen ... and in my fantasy-land laundry, but I really, really doubt it ... i.e. nothing too extravagant)
So you can understand my annoyance when 5 minutes into the conversation I mentioned that I would be coming with my daughter, but not my husband. Without the slightest pause the woman says "Oh, we don't rent to families with children. We don't like them in our buildings. Thanks for calling."

That's insane and definitely discriminatory.
I wish I could help, but this is way out of my league.
I hope you find something suitable very soon.
Oh, and thanks for all the comments of late. It's always nice to "hear" from you:)
