It's really easy to get caught up in a big fight and kind-of forget what it's about. No, not with JD. With my university. And they are being total incoherent jerks and gave me the complete run-around today (after bedtime in my time zone, no less).
And then, having spoken to the 5th and final person about my dilemma I realized that I am heavily petitioning to take a job that would require me to be present and on campus and intellectually involved, um, about a week before my EDD. And should our little secret decide to make a break for it early, I would actually still have to be there.
Which is to say that I got the job I interviewed for yesterday. And my judgment really isn't the best.
And in a slight aside, I have to admit to being totally baffled by the amount of angst in the IF blogosphere about Mother's Day. Maybe I missed something since I'm a first generation American. But Mother's Day usually involved pancakes, and not much else. And in high school, a sale at the mall. Yes, if there was an arts and crafts project in school we dutifully carried it home. But it never had any big meaning. Or meaning at all, to be precise. About on the same level as secretary's day, which often brought us leftover slices of cake.
And I think my perspective is probably a bit different since I don't own a TV or get radio reception in my apartment in NYC. So I really don't see all this advertising that peeves everyone else.
And in my current residence, Mother's Day is associated with the Nazi occupation for a lot of families and completely ignored. Or treated very gingerly.
I hope that those of you whose families put a heavy emphasize on Mother's Day have found good distractions. But please remember it's just a hallmark holiday, and you don't even have to recognize it.
