a little secret

I have been rather naughty. Almost 3 weeks ago I scheduled an ultrasound for Friday afternoon. And an appointment with my GP just before it. Officially, I need a referral from her for my upcoming OB/GYN appointment. What I really want is a referral I can immediately take to the hospital for an ultrasound.

A real one, where they measure everything, and actually let me hear the heartbeat. I do have an OB/GYN appointment scheduled for 2 weeks from now near JD. But I'll be at school/visiting a friend till then and would just feel so much better if I'd had another ultrasound. With a tech I didn't fantasize about throttling.

So I'll be spending my 20+ hour journey tomorrow brainstorming ways to convince my regular doctor that it's within her grounds to write me a referral for an ultrasound. I'm not going to lie and claim any spotting or anything too drastic, but maybe a few vague aches and pains might work? Or is this a futile cause?

I was a bit peeved about the elevator earlier (as you may have noticed) and in addition to venting to JD I actually e-mailed my mother. Which resulted in the first lengthy, genuine e-mails from her about how much this baby will mean to the family and why I should pay whatever it takes to say safe (ie. don't skimp on cabs). They almost made me cry to read them.

Can't wait to hear if your scheming,or should I say "persuasive powers" prove fruitful ;o)

But lie all out if you have to.

I've found that most doctors will give the referral if you seem to have an emotional duress about it. For what it's worth.

Isn't it sad that we have to scheme like that just to know if things are ok?

I'm told crying helps - they'll do ANYTHING just to get you out of their office before you use up all the tissues.

Wishing you a safe and comfortable journey and LOTS of people to help you with your bags.
