Tomorrow tomorrow

The alarm is set for 8:30. The fusspot will go to daycare around 9 and I'll straight to work. And then at 2 we'll head to the airport and JD will be waiting for us in NYC!

And this time he really, truly gets that I could use a break. He's vacuumed, he's mopped, he's baby-proofed, he's shopped, and he's promised I can sleep in. We'll see.

Did I mention the fusspot has an ear infection? And for once I decided to 'go local' and follow the doctor's advice ... so no antibiotics. Nope, we've just been nursing and taking long baths to get through it. They don't really believe in antibiotics for babies here. I'm not sure how I stand on the issue.

I did get a nice compliment last week. Really nice (and not at all back-handed), but it still has me scrubbing and cleaning tonight. See, I have very few unannounced guests in my apartment here and I live alone and the place is huge ... so it's not always spotless. My friend walked in quite unannounced and looked around the kitchen and said "I am always suspicious of those women who claim to do it all. Your place is filthy which really reassures me that you are spending every moment with the fusspot when you're not at work." Actually, there's a rather funny back-story as to how she showed up at my place. See, I suggested that we go out in our little snowstorm to take photos. Maternity photos. That's right folks. I did a maternity photo shoot in a snowstorm while carrying my fussing fusspot in the Ergo and I didn't even cry about it. But the photos are gorgeous and the baby is due any day.

New subject.

Breasts and advertising. The fusspot has been in bus stop heaven all week. On one side of our local bus stop is this ad:
I'd give it a 6 out of 10 for use of breasts. They are obviously in the forefront of the image, about lifesize. And, well, I guess they make me want to listen to the radio.

But this is the other side of our bus stop:
10 out of 10. For a country that is rather queasy about breastfeeding they sure have no qualms using breasts to advertise ... insurance?
