1:15 am

It's 1:15 in the morning and I'm awake obsessing over how to get a certified copy of my birth certificate to Europe in record time. The paperwork here is absurd. In less than 72 hours I have already found an apartment, used my new address to apply for a train pass and other critical money-saving paperwork (none of which could be done without an address), and now I am trying to figure out how to register with the local municipality before my interview with the national bureacracy for a visa takes place. And despite bringing proof of income, my passport, the fusspot's birth certificate, a marriage certificate, a certified letter from JD authorizing me to make decisions for the fusspot (and travel with her) without consulting him, lots of cash, letter of affiliation with a university, grant letter, etc. well ... I forgot a copy of my birth certificate. And now the entire process is on hold until I can get one. And the stupid thing is I didn't even bring any checks so I can't even just mail the information for an expedited copy to the States because I have no way to pay for it.

I really ought to be in bed. Supposed to go to work in the morning.

I'm also on a mission to find a crib online. Co-sleeping is great and all, and I will absolutely continue to co-sleep with the fusspot once my husband leaves, but at the moment spending my last month with my husband for ages while sharing a full-sized futon on the floor with the fusspot is not exactly ideal.

I just want to be able to snuggle with my guy in bed. And of course become a legal resident. The little things in life.

you can contact me at cd0103@charter.net if I can help- I could send a check from here? I can't believe they won't let you wire the money or pay online.

I would also be happy to send a check, I live in Texas if it is closer to where you were born, if you were not born in New York etc, I can be reached at kregis@comcast.net. How irritating to deal with governments! Just let me know if I can help.
